The bow platform was installed 2026-07-18 ("more or less"), so the anchor chain can be used again — but see diary-2026.md 2026-07-18 for the bolts and the bow ladder support that remain. The rest still needs stainless steel welding, which I have no competence on — and now that the boat is in the water, shore power for the stick welder is a lot harder to come by.

[ ] Electric Brompton front wheel — get the rim assessed before fitting a new tyre, and go easy on the front brake until then. Photos 2026-08-07 (~/s/photos.tobixen/newmi/IMG_20260807_1207*.jpg) show the rim flange bulged outward over ~3–5 cm of arc with a crease through the braking track. On a rim-braked front wheel that is normally a condemn-the-rim condition. First rule out the rim joint: spin the wheel with the brake lightly applied — a joint gives a mild consistent tick, a bulge gives a clear grab. Also run a fingernail along the braking track; a lip at the edges means brake wear has thinned the wall, which makes it "worn out and yielding under tyre pressure" rather than merely "bent". The spokes photograph rust-brown rather than silver and one hub shell shows a green-yellow deposit at the flange, so this may be a full rebuild (new 349 rim + new spokes, reusing the motor hub) rather than a rim swap — much cheaper than a complete electric front wheel either way. Take it to the Varna shop that rebuilt the old Brompton's front wheel for EUR 24 (diary-2026.md 2026-01-28 … 2026-01-30); they haven't seen this wheel, but they have proven they can lace a Brompton wheel. Better photos wanted: one sharp well-lit shot square-on to the deformed section, one of the motor hub with its cable entry.

[ ] Bike box project: I'm working on making a water-proof glass-fibre-enforced cardboard box that fits perfectly to the trunk of my bike. This is a "silly side project", original idea was just to have something useful to work on when finding I had mixed too much epoxy, but it has grown into a project of it's own. Remaining work: lid is not done, all edges should get a little bit more epoxy, some edges may need a thin glass fibre tape, the cardboard on the underside needs more epoxy to make sure it's water-tight, the box should have four legs in the corners so it can stand stably upright on the ground, and we may need some artwork or something so it's easy to remember what's front and aft (perhaps a green dot on the starboard side and a red dot on the port side? Perhaps some artwork on the backside encouraging cars to keep some distance? Reflectors on the stern?)

Order: 2 × Schwalbe Marathon 35-349 GreenGuard with reflective strip, 2 × 349 tubes Schrader (removable core if offered), rim tape, valve core tool + spare Schrader cores. Alternative if easy roadside mounting matters more than puncture protection: Marathon Racer 35-349 (what is on there now, folding bead if available). Marathon Plus rejected on purpose — best sidewall and puncture protection, but too hard to get on and off at the roadside. Both Marathon and Marathon Racer are Brompton-approved for the Electric; Schwalbe One and Kojak are not e-bike rated. Order from BIKE24 (EU, no customs); hibike.bg is unreachable (server-side TLS/SNI fault); avoid UK shops post-Brexit. Do not stockpile spare tyres aboard — they perish in the locker in the same salty humid air that killed this set; stockpile tubes instead. Fitting the front one is blocked on the rim assessment above.

[ ] URGENT: stop nginx serving .git. /etc/nginx/sites-available/solveig.oslo.no.conf has autoindex on and no dotfile rule, so https://solveig.oslo.no/solveig/ lists every directory and .git is served with it: .git/index, .git/config, .git/HEAD, packed-refs and loose objects by SHA all return 200, which is enough for git-dumper to reconstruct the whole history. Verified 2026-09-01 and again 2026-09-02. In the server block:

Then nginx -t && systemctl reload nginx, and check that https://solveig.oslo.no/solveig/.git/HEAD gives 404. Worth autoindex off; in the same pass, so that "you have to know the filename" becomes true rather than assumed.
[ ] Decide on the history rewrite, once the nginx block is in place. The tracked documents/ blobs — the boat licence, the insurance certificates, the Greek policy — are off HEAD as of 2026-09-02 but still in history, and history is what .git exposes. A rewrite plus a force-push to both remotes is worth it only if this repository might ever become public.
[ ] Split the diaries into a public and a private one. The whole repository working tree, .git included, is served at https://solveig.oslo.no/solveig/ — every diary is a public download today. The nginx entry above comes first; it is the difference between "a public download" and "a public download plus every earlier revision".
[ ] Publish the diary via ~/diary-md — blocked on the split above: it needs quite some private/personal data cleansed out of the diary first.
[ ] Reorganise the repository root. Proposed groups: diary/ — the fifteen diary-* files, which the public/private split has to touch anyway, so moving first makes that easier rather than harder; viewer/ — diary-viewer.html, md-viewer-common.js, landscape.css, small-text.css, aliases.json, one working set whose CSS names give no hint they belong together; technical/ — the three lamps-*, electric-toilet-guide.md, homeassistant, navigation-guide.md, regler.md; crew/ — crewbay-description-template.txt, trusted-crew, crew-rules.*. archive/ and drafts/ already exist.
